25 YEARS OF SAMBA

Street Heat will this year celebrate its 25th anniversary and 25 years of drum magic. Founded through an Exmouth evening class, Street Heat Samba grew into a popular community group enhancing its place in the hearts of audiences across the South West and beyond. In fact, the band went on to spread its wings as far afield as Nice, Berlin and Maastricht to regular appearances at the Battle of Flowers parade in Jersey.
Despite many prestigious engagements, the band is proud to have stayed true to its community roots. Now based in Exeter, we practice weekly and invite new members to join us each year through workshops and enjoy the thrill of becoming part of our bateria.
Today, Street Heat’s rhythms mimic street carnival music of tropical Brazil with colourful costumes, adapted to Britain’s cooler climate, reflecting the vibrancy and excitement of Rio. The band has a great legacy and are always thankful to its founder members and, indeed, all the players that have travelled along with the band through the years and made Street Heat the great band it is.
To past players and audiences alike, we thank you for all of your support and we hope you have enjoyed the performances as much as we have. We are looking forward meeting up with you all soon and to the next 25 years.
