MEET THE BAND

Fran

Terceira Surdo and Repinique

I joined the band in 1997 and I have played every instrument apart from caixa over the years.  The Surdo is a great instrument to play but to all new members when choosing your instrument keep in mind parades! The surdo is the hardest instrument to carry around.

When I came into the band it was at a time where we were lucky enough to get very prestigious gigs abroad  such as The Nice Carnival, which I went to three times as well as Berlin Carnival. Nearer to home, I have attended the Isle of Wight Festival for quite a few years and Jersey Battle of Flowers for many years.

The great thing about being in the band is that you have likeminded people who are up for a laugh and to get out and about doing their favourite thing. It also puts a smile on people’s faces when they see our colourful costumes and obviously hear our drums and irresistible sound.
