Tamborim
Having joined in 2007, I can still re-call the excitement of the first workshop that John and I came to on a Wednesday practise night. Everyone stood in a circle and we had to each say something interesting about ourselves – scary! I can’t even remember what I said now. The thrill of the first gig was great too as a chocalho player. It was at a very informal wedding reception held by a lovely lake with straw bales to sit on and we were invited to help ourselves to food and drink – and ice cream. I still love being in the band, now in the front Tam line. This year (2017) we had an intake of 9 new members – all so enthusiastic about practising, gigging and getting their costumes on the go. It’s nice to re-live their excitement with them. We’ve played at some lovely venues over the years both in Devon and further afield – Lynmouth, Sidmouth, Tolpuddle, Lyme Regis, Jersey and lots more.
